Weight Watchers group seeking new members
Members of a new Weight Watchers group in Tusayan are currently seeking new members to join their group. The popular program meets each Tuesday at the Grand Canyon Best Western Squire Inn. Meetings begin each week at noon.
The program is designed for individuals who want to lose wight to do so in a friendly, group atmosphere. A representative from Weight Watchers in Flagstaff will also be on hand for the Tuesday meeting at the Squire Inn.
The group is finishing their current 10-week cycle and is seeking new members to join in order for the group continue to offer services in the area. For more information, call Loraine Foote at (928) 638-8400.
Torch Run is April 27
The annual Law Enforcement Torch Run will be held April 27 beginning at 6 a.m. at Mather Point. The run will proceed from Mather to the McDonalds restuarant in Tusayan. Anyone interested in participating in the annual Special Olympics benefit is invited to attend.
Ballroom dancing at the rec center
Dance instructor Bonnie Shanks brings her dancing expertise to the Grand Canyon Recreation Center twice a month. Shanks will instruct slow waltz on Tuesday and rhumba April 20. Classes are held from 7-8 p.m. and are free. For more information, call the recreation center at (928) 638-3389.
Grand Canyon Lions Club meets twice a month
The Grand Canyon Lions Club, a non-profit community organization, meets on the first and third Wednesday of every month. The meetings are held in the conference room of the Canyon Plaza Resort in Tusayan. Meetings begin at 7:30 p.m. The Canyon Plaza Resort is located behind the IMAX® Theater on Highway 64. Anyone in the community is invited to attend.
Musical fun for the whole family!
All children are musical. Music Together classes are tons of fun and can help your child develop to his/her full musical potential. Children age birth through five and their parents/caregivers experience songs, instrument play, and movement activities in a relaxed, playful setting with no performance pressure. Participants also receive a songbook, parent guide booklet, semi-annual newsletter, and two professionally recorded CDs for more family fun at home.
Spring semester classes run for 8 weeks, April 1 through May 20. Each semester features a new collection of songs and activities. This spring we will boogie to the Tambourine Collection.

Grand Canyon Alcoholics Anonymous meetings
Members of the Grand Canyon chapter of Alcoholics Anonymous meet three times weekly at the South Rim. The group meets Mondays. Wednesdays and Fridays in the Kachina Room of Kachina Lodge. Meetings for the group, which has been in existence at the Grand Canyon for 15 years, begin at 7 p.m.
Save those box tops and labels
Officials with Grand Canyon School are asking for the public's help in saving box tops for the Box Tops for Education program. School officials are also seeking Campbell's soup labels for Campbell's Labels for Education program. Both programs equate into money for the school.
