Grand Hotel is the place to vote on March 9
Eligible voters in the Tusayan area will be able to cast their ballot in the March 9 election at the Grand Hotel, located on Highway 64, from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Voters will soon decide whether or not to incorporate the community of Tusayan in the election. Results from the election will be available between 8-9 p.m. March 9. Election results can be monitored online at www.coconino.az.gov/elections. Check www.grandcanyonnews.com for election coverage following the March 9 vote.
Grand Canyon Alcoholics Anonymous meetings
Members of the Grand Canyon chapter of Alcoholics Anonymous meet three times weekly at the South Rim. The group meets Mondays. Wednesdays and Fridays in the Kachina Room of Kachina Lodge. Meetings for the group, which has been in existence at the Grand Canyon for 15 years, begin at 7 p.m.
Yoga classes and more at Grand Canyon Rec Center
The Grand Canyon Rec Center offers a number of great activities for residents of the Grand Canyon and Tusayan, including Yoga classes and more. Tuesday night flow classes are offered from 5:45-7 p.m. and cost anywhere from $10 for a drop in class to $50 for an eight class package. Beginning Yoga with Jennifer is offered Wednesdays from 5:45-7 p.m. A night class is offered for donations on Sundays beginning at 5 p.m. A kids' Yoga workshop is offered on select Fridays. Contact the rec center for more details.
Other rec center classes include free Falun Dance classes each Sunday from 6-7:30 p.m., Zumba from 6-7 p.m., line dancing beginning at 6 p.m. and tap dance and ballet. The rec center can be contacted at (928) 638-3389 for more information.
Open gym basketball
Open gym basketball is held each Sunday at the Grand Canyon School from 7-9 p.m. Individuals who wish to participate must be over 16-years-old and wear non-marking athletic shoes. For the program to continue, officials advise that all rules of the Grand Canyon Recreation Center and the Grand Canyon School be followed at all times.
Grand Canyon Lions Club meets twice a month
The Grand Canyon Lions Club, a non-profit community organization, meets on the first and third Wednesday of every month. The meetings are held in the conference room of the Canyon Plaze Resort in Tusayan. Meetings begin at 7:30 p.m. The Canyon Plaza Resort is located behind the IMAX® Theater on Highway 64. Anyone in the community is invited to attend.
