GRAND CANYON, Ariz. - Tired muscles and joints rejoice. Suzanne Avantyr is here for you.

A licensed and certified medical massage therapist, Avantyr is now able to work from home after permission from the Park Service.

"This is a grand opening for my home massage office, in fact I'm going to have a special first time offer for anyone if they mention this article," she said.

No longer will Avantyr need to lug her equipment to the Rec Center, hoping there is a quiet space for her clients. She is set up for treatments at home and is available on call.

Avantyr also offers hand and foot paraffin treatments, a welcome treat for those chapped and worn outdoor extremities.

"I add aromatherapy as a gift because I enjoy it and like to pass it on to people," she said.

Even though she offers a variety of deep tissue, medical based massage, Avantyr is also available for those who simply wish to pamper themselves.

"It's a wonderful opportunity for people that live in the canyon to distress," she said. "I'm for anybody that has a chronic injury, repetitive strain injury, anybody that's looking to work on pain relief and/or injury. It helps to put them into a relaxed state, it helps with the mind body connection, it helps people to become aware of what's going on in their body," she said, adding that sometimes people aren't aware of where the pain is until they get a massage.

In the fall, Avantyr will offer relaxation parties to the community. Aromatherapy oils will be available to purchase along with self-massage products.

"The parties will be me talking a little about how high stress our roles are today and how to create a little space in your home where sights, sense and sound take you down a couple of notches," she said.

Search Canyon Massage Therapy on Facebook and call (928) 890-9734 to make an appointment. Avantyr is a licensed (mt#16569) and certified medical massage therapist.
