Dinner Dance is right around the corner
Put on those dancing shoes for Saturday night event

GRAND CANYON, Ariz. - It's nearly time to party at the El Tovar for the annual Rotary on the Rim Holiday Dinner Dance. The gala event is scheduled to get under way at 6 p.m. this Saturday. Dinner for the beloved holiday dance is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.

The extravaganza is open to the public at a cost of $50 a ticket, according to organizers. The dinner dance will be held in the main dining room of the El Tovar. Rooms are also available at a number of local establishments, including the Red Feather Lodge, which is running a special $45 a night rate.

According to Grand Canyon Rotarian

Craig Andresen, ticket sales for the event have been brisk.

"Raffle sales are going well. We've still got a lot of the big raffle tickets for the houseboat, which are still available. I think we've got almost 100 raffle prizes to give out this year, and good ones, really good ones," Andresen said.

The dinner dance, often called one of the biggest events at the Grand Canyon, has been a fixture in the area for over 25 years. The gala is typically held on the first or second Saturday of December. This year, organizers are planning a number of festivities, including a raffle, silent auction and door prizes. Prizes include two houseboat trips on Lake Powell, a river trip, flights from Papillon and Maverick Airlines. Music for the event is being offered up by the popular local band Exit 64.

"There will be a professional photographer there doing couple's photos. Up here you don't get a lot of chances to really dress up for a fun, formal evening and it's kind of fun to get those photos," Andresen said.

For more information on the holiday dinner dance, contact any Grand Canyon Rotarian or call the Grand Canyon Chamber of Commerce at (928) 638-2901.
