Guest column: Town to attend school board meeting
Greetings Tusayan and Grand Canyon area residents,

The summer season has been a busy one so far with minimal issues with fire threats. We were all thankful for the coming of the monsoon rains, even with the lightning.

Guest column: Be an informed voter this election
Greetings Tusayan and Grand Canyon area residents,

Monsoons and smoke, what a combination! Both are doing a much-needed job in providing opportunities for a healthier and safer forest. While the smoke has been an irritant at times, we appreciate the efforts the Forest Service makes to try and keep it away from the town as much as possible. Thanks!

Guest column: council selects town engineer
Greetings Tusayan and Grand Canyon area residents,

The monsoon season is upon us and as usual just in time to try and dampen our Fourth of July parade and events. But as usual for our great community, we weren't prevented from having a great time on the Fourth.

Editorial: Entrances have a long history at the park
While many take the train from Williams to Grand Canyon each day, a large amount of the South Rim's visitors drive along Highway 64 through Tusayan, finally reaching the entrance to the national park.

Letter: Unhappy with Kiel coverage
Page 8, indeed? While I found your article on our seasonal turbidity occurrence and the potential for wider parking spaces in downtown Williams riveting and breaking news, I found your page 8 send off to Don Keil disappointing.

Editorial: History told through GC museum collection
When it comes to the Grand Canyon National Park, part of the allure of the place comes in the form of its history, the myriad stories of those who came here centuries ago, or even 50 years ago, at a time when the experience was a little different than it is now.

Letter to the editor: Uranium mining coverage questioned
To the editor:

Your letter policy states that you give all readers a chance to comment on issues of public interest. I'm aware of meetings regarding the uranium mining issue and that the mining community has been represented at these meetings and has even had very qualified speakers give the mining industry's story.

Editorial: Mountain lions enjoy the views as well
When it comes to the wildlife at the Grand Canyon, the mountain lion has always inspired a sense of wonder when it comes to the creatures who call the South Rim area home.

Editorial: New bypass lane an exciting addition for locals
Residents of the Grand Canyon area are all abuzz over the new bypass lane leading into Grand Canyon National Park. While anyone who has ever made their way through the south entrance through Tusayan can attest, the bypass lane will shave off some time when it comes to getting into the park during peak periods of activity.

Editorial: A lot going on at the Grand Canyon
There will be no shortage of things to do at the Grand Canyon's South Rim in the coming days, particularly for book lovers and lovers of the Grand Canyon.

Your March 24 and March 31 editions feature lengthy news articles about the National Park Service's assessment of stock use at the Grand Canyon and the public hearings regarding this assessment.

Letter:Community comes out for fundraiser
To the editor:

Once again, the Grand Canyon community has come together to help out some of their own. Two school employees, Ina Zeena and Rudy Keebahe, have recently been facing some serious medical issues.

Editorial: Share your events, photos with the News
Got an event you think deserves a little attention in the local newspaper? Holding onto a few old photographs, or even new ones, which show a side of the Grand Canyon community that many may not have seen before?

Editorial: Stay safe, prepared when hiking in the Canyon
As the weather grows warmer across northern Arizona, many are beginning to turn their attention to the outdoors. There may be some snow headed our way still, as well as a little rain, but temperatures are definitely on the rise.

Editorial: Mule rides will always be a part of Canyon
One day mule trips to Plateau Point, once part of daily life at the Grand Canyon, could change as part of an alternative being proposed by the National Park Service (NPS), but it may lead to other forms of mule rides that could appeal to a number of visitors to the Grand Canyon National Park - in the form of an above rim ride.

Guest column: With Tusayan election over, find common ground
It's not easy being stuck in the middle, caught between two sides of a heated debate in which the balance of the future of a community hangs. Not easy at all.
Tuesday, March 16, 2010

Editorial: Community newspapers rely on local help
Community newspapers, like the Grand Canyon News, continue to ride the wave of debate when it comes to online versus print news coverage. This week, coverage of the incorporation election in the Tusayan area will be found first on www.grandcanyonnews.com.
Tuesday, March 9, 2010

Editorial: Be sure to cast your vote on Tuesday
Six days from today, voters in the area of Tusayan will go to the polls to make an important decision for the small community, just as they did nearly two years ago.
Wednesday, March 3, 2010

With over 100 years of coverage in the Grand Canyon area, including the last 25 years covering the area in its own section, the Grand Canyon News remains a go-to source for news and information at the South Rim and surrounding communities.
Tuesday, February 23, 2010

Letter: Why not build now?
To the editor:

We voted down incorporation last year by letting folks know that we don't want to see dramatic, irreversible changes at our country's greatest natural wonder.

Letter: Tusayan ready for incorporation
Tuesday, February 23, 2010

Letter: The numbers aren't there
To the editor:

I sat on the committee that studied incorporation for about four years. Incorporation is bad for Tusayan, for many reasons, and those pushing it are, once again, ignoring the comments made by residents during that process.
