Chamber gearing up for big event season
Josie Bustillos
General Manager Grand Canyon Chamber and Visitorís Bureau

To the editor:

It's hard to believe that the 2012 event season is upon us. Our season kicked off yesterday with the Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) for Special Olympics. This is the second year that the Grand Canyon Chamber has paired up with the LETR and it has been another successful year for the event. For such a small community everyone really steps up to help out with this great cause.

Starting in May we will have our first Mixer of the 2012 season. This is exciting for us because we will be showcasing our newest business in Tusayan, The Grand Canyon Dinner Theater and Steak House and then just around the corner is our 34th Annual Fourth of July Celebration. This year's theme is "Happy Birthday, Arizona." It's going to be a great event.

The parade will kick off at 3 p.m. Then, the house will start rocking with the talented Whiskey Rodeo from Flagstaff. We have great games for kids and wonderful food vendors like Big John's BBQ and Salsa Brava. Our beer garden is always a hit, sponsored by our official event sponsor Grand Canyon Brewing Company.

Here is to a great SUMMER SEASON.

With all the new businesses Stillo will be bringing to the area the Chamber will really need to step up its events...instead of just being local yocal...they need to be oriented to visitors as well - maybe we should look at some of the events Williams has and bring them up here

We have to support our local businesses and if the them of AZ is shop local and buy local it astounds me that we have two mexican eating facilities and three steak houses and this even is using out of town vendors. Nice way to support our small town.
