Team looks for support for Climb to Conquer Cancer
Williams-Grand Canyon News

To the editor:

I'm sharing hope for a world with less cancer and more birthdays by participating in the American Cancer Society's Climb to Conquer Cancer on Aug. 19 at Arizona Snowbowl. I am supporting this program because cancer has left a mark on all of us, and I am determined to do all I can to help saves lives from this disease, along with others from the Grand Canyon area. Personally, I have three people in my life fighting this battle.

One way you can help is by making a donation. Our team, captained by Pat Martinez, would greatly appreciate even just a $2 - $5 donation for this cause. Together we have raised $2,990 to date.

The 6.7-mile climb starts at 7 a.m. This event sells out every year, but there's still time to join our team, start your own, or just go solo. Outback will start serving lunch at 8:30 a.m. for those of you who can get up the mountain in an hour.

Your donation supports the American Cancer Society's work to save lives and create more birthdays by helping people stay well, helping people get well, by finding cures, and by fighting back. Go to www.cancer.org and search Team Grand Canyon's Donation Page to donate.

Together we can make sure that anyone affected by cancer can count on the American Cancer Society to provide tips and tools to help people reduce their risk of cancer; to be in their corner around the clock at 1-800-227-2345 and http://www.cancer.org/; to fund and conduct groundbreaking research into cancer's causes, treatments, and cures; and work with lawmakers to create laws that defeat cancer.

Thanks so much for your help. Your contributions - any amount you can give - truly make a difference in the fight against cancer. And I understand if you cannot, just send our team some positive vibes during our hike!
