GRAND CANYON, Ariz. - Floyd E. Roberts III of Treasure Island, Florida, remains missing in a remote area of western Grand Canyon. Roberts was reported missing June 17.

Gosar/Stewart amendment challenges designation of Grand Canyon Watershed
GRAND CANYON, Ariz. - On June 15, an amendment to block the creation of new national monuments, including the Grand Canyon Watershed in Arizona, Utah and several other states, was passed during a U.S. House Interior Appropriations Committee mark up. The amendment will now be officially included in the Interior Appropriations Bill, which the house expects to vote on this summer. The amendment was adopted in a 27-22 vote.

Fire restrictions begin today for Kaibab National Forest
GRAND CANYON, Ariz. - The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for June 15 for the Tusayan and North Kaibab ranger districts of the Kaibab National Forest, as well as other areas of northern Arizona, because of strong winds and low relative humidity.

Environmental groups object to extended camping corridors on Kaibab National Forest
TUSAYAN, Ariz. - On Jan. 22 the Kaibab National Forest released a draft decision to add camping corridors and make other improvements to roadways and forest access points on the Williams and Tusayan ranger districts.

Environmental organizations say the plan raises troubling concerns about long-term management and health of the forest.
