GRAND CANYON, Ariz. - The holidays will come alive Dec. 7, as officials with the Grand Canyon Association and the National Park Service host the fifth annual Community Open House at the Grand Canyon Visitor Center at Canyon View Information Plaza. The annual event is a community favorite among those who live in the area. This year's event will begin at 6:30 p.m. and run until 8:30 p.m. Parking for the event will be available in Parking Lot 3, organizers said.

Among the activities planned for the event are children's games and activities with Grand Canyon Rangers, holiday music sung by children from Grand Canyon School and a visit from Santa Claus at 7 p.m. A number of authors will also be on hand for the event, including Todd Berger, Elias Butler, Gary Ladd, Tom Martin, Tom Myers, Wayne Ranney and Lori Rome. A 30 percent discount will be offered during the event, along with special offers on gift memberships to the Grand Canyon Assocation, and a raffle benefiting the Grand Canyon Community Food Bank program.
