First snow arrives Oct. 28
Up to an inch expected overnight

GRAND CANYON, Ariz. - The Grand Canyon area got its first taste of the 2009-2010 winter season today as the first measurable snow fall of the year paid a visit to the area. Snow is expected to continue through the night with snow accumulation of up to one inch expected in the Grand Canyon and Tusayan areas. Windy conditions are also expected, with gusts between 15 to 30 MPH at times.

Forecasters call for a 50 percent chance of snow through the rest of the day, with high temperatures around 26 degrees. A 30 percent chance of precipitation is expected through the evening hours, with little to no new snow accumulation expected. Temperatures are expected to drop dramatically overnight, with lows around nine degrees.

Partly cloudy conditions are called for tomorrow as the storm moves through the region with a 10 percent of snow expected with no accumulation. High temperatures around 29 degrees are expected, with low temperatures between 14 to 24 degrees. Mostly clear conditions will prevail through the weekend. Daytime highs are expected to range between 50 to 60 degrees.
